Privacy policy

footyhome.com.au (“footyhome”, “we”) handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

• Every visit: your IP address, the pages you request, the time, your browser's user-agent and the referring page. We collect this for security (including blocking Tor and abusive networks), to prevent misuse, and to understand how the site is used.
• If you create an account: your email address, username and a securely hashed password (we never store or see the password itself), the IP address you joined from and signed in from, and when.
• If you comment or react: what you write, your likes and dislikes, reports you make, and the IP address and browser used. Comments the filter blocks are also recorded with the reason.

How we use it

To run your account, publish your comments, enforce the community rules, investigate abuse, keep the site secure, and send emails you ask for (such as password resets). We don't sell personal information and don't use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Your username, comments and reactions are public. Your email address and IP addresses are visible only to footyhome's administrators.

Service providers, including overseas

• Google Cloud hosts the site and database (Sydney region), and Google Workspace sends our emails and stores backups.
• Anthropic (United States) may receive the text of a comment for an automated check for abuse, if that check is switched on. It doesn't receive your email or IP address.
• YouTube serves embedded highlight videos under its own privacy policy; we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

How long we keep it

Page-request logs are kept for 180 days. Account details and comments are kept until you delete your account or we remove them. Records of account and moderation activity are kept for security and dispute purposes.

Your choices

You can read the site without an account. You can delete your account at any time from your account page, which removes your comments and reactions. You can ask for access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by emailing home@footyhome.com.au.

Cookies

We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser stores your light or dark theme choice. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Complaints

Email home@footyhome.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
